EVE Energy Co., Ltd., along with its strategic partners, has signed a contract for the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) solar-plus-storage project, marking its formal entry into Malaysia’s critical infrastructure sector. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof, underscoring the project’s national significance in advancing the country’s green and smart energy transition.
The agreement was jointly unveiled by Oscar Chan, General Manager of the Energy Storage International Sales Department at EVE Energy, and En Harman, President of Cenergi SEA. The project will deploy EVE Energy’s advanced 628Ah energy storage batteries integrated into a 5MWh energy storage system, supporting the operational reliability and sustainability goals of one of Southeast Asia’s busiest aviation hubs.
The 10MW/36MWh ground-mounted solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) project represents EVE Energy’s first AC/DC integrated energy storage deployment in Malaysia. Designed with a highly integrated architecture, the system is capable of addressing multiple applications, including renewable energy grid integration, peak load shaving, and grid frequency regulation. Once operational in 2027, the project will supply stable green electricity to KLIA’s main terminal in conjunction with a 36MWp solar power plant.
“We are honored to power a world-class transportation hub like KLIA,” said Oscar Chan, General Manager of International Energy Storage Sales at EVE Energy. “By leveraging our technical expertise and extensive project experience, we are committed to ensuring high-quality delivery and long-term system reliability.”
As Southeast Asia’s second-busiest airport, KLIA serves approximately 60 million passengers annually. In line with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and carbon reduction targets, the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 42,006 tonnes annually. The initiative will significantly contribute to KLIA’s renewable energy objectives for 2030 and its broader net-zero ambitions.
Looking ahead, EVE Energy stated that it will continue strengthening partnerships across Southeast Asia, collaborating with global stakeholders to accelerate the region’s clean energy transition and foster a resilient, sustainable energy ecosystem.
