In a major step toward realizing Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Petronas, and Terengganu Inc have launched two landmark clean energy initiatives in Terengganu — a Green Hydrogen Hub and a Hybrid Hydro-Floating Solar (HHFS) project.

The Green Hydrogen Hub is a strategic collaboration between TNB and Petronas to advance the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives for domestic use and future export. The initiative supports Malaysia’s ambition to become a regional clean energy leader while positioning hydrogen as a critical element in the country’s low-carbon energy mix.

In parallel, the Hybrid Hydro-Floating Solar (HHFS) project is being developed through a partnership between TNB Genco, the power generation arm of TNB, and Terengganu Inc, the state’s investment arm. The project aligns with Terengganu Inc’s goal to stimulate socio-economic development in the state by leveraging renewable energy to create jobs and attract sustainable investments.

These initiatives were recently officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, marking a significant milestone in the national push for energy sustainability. Both projects are closely aligned with the NETR and Malaysia’s Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR), reflecting a coordinated effort to modernize energy infrastructure, decarbonize the power sector, and accelerate the nation’s clean energy transition.
