SMA Solar Technology has expanded its large-scale portfolio with the introduction of the 40-ft Medium Voltage Power Station-9200, a turnkey solution designed for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and photovoltaic (PV) power plants in Central Europe. The new configuration consolidates two high-performance inverters, two transformers, and one medium-voltage switchgear into a compact skidtainer, providing EPCs and developers with double the power output in a single unit while streamlining installation and system design.
Manufactured in Europe, the MVPS-9200 benefits from shorter delivery times and proximity to customers. Its development leverages SMA’s strategic partnership with Italian engineering firm CEP, which contributes additional medium-voltage expertise.
“Our new 40ft Medium Voltage Power Station brings together advanced engineering, proven inverter technology, and streamlined logistics,” said Florian Bechtold, EVP Business Division Large Scale at SMA. “It enables customers to execute projects faster and more cost-effectively.”
Designed for 1500 VDC PV and storage applications, the system features a redundant architecture that enhances availability, reduces operational expenditure (OPEX), and stabilizes long-term project revenues. The solution utilizes Sunny Central UP inverters for PV plants and Sunny Central Storage UP or UP-S inverters for BESS. When equipped with SiC MOSFET technology, the UP-S inverter lowers energy losses and improves long-term efficiency.
The 40-ft MVPS is offered in multiple power classes, from MVPS-5860 to MVPS-9200, and provides several operational advantages:
With its combination of lower CAPEX, scalable design, and proven SMA software, the new MVPS-9200 is positioned as a future-ready solution for modern large-scale solar and storage installations.
