RWE Commissions 200 MW Stoneridge Solar Project in Texas, Adds 100 MW Battery Storage

RWE has officially commissioned the Stoneridge Solar project in Milam County, Texas, marking a major boost to the state’s renewable energy supply. The facility delivers 200 MW of solar power paired with 100 MW / 200 MWh of battery storage, enhancing grid reliability and providing cost-competitive clean electricity to Texans.
Andrew Flanagan, CEO of RWE Clean Energy, said the project reflects the impact of strong local partnerships and the company’s contribution to national energy security. “Stoneridge Solar is a great example of the power of local partnership and the positive role energy projects play in economic stimulation. We are helping Texas and the nation secure their energy future with scalable, homegrown energy while also delivering meaningful benefits to communities across America’s heartland,” he stated.
During construction, the project generated more than 200 jobs and now supports permanent operational positions. It is also expected to contribute millions in tax revenue to Milam County and the Thorndale Independent School District. Funding from the project will support first responders and education initiatives, including renovations at Thorndale Elementary School and partnerships with the local volunteer fire department.

The Stoneridge Solar project aligns with RWE’s broader goal of accelerating U.S. energy independence. With the addition of this facility, RWE’s energy capacity across the United States has grown to over 11 GW, reinforcing its position as a leading provider of reliable and affordable clean energy.
