The Department of Energy (DOE) in the Philippines has finally approved almost 10.2 GW of new wind, solar, and storage capacity in its Green Energy Auction (GEA-4). This effectively increases the total capacity of this round from the originally announced 9.37 GW.

Last week, the department announced selecting 123 winning bidders for 10.195 GW capacity across diverse technologies, including ground-mounted solar, rooftop solar, floating PV, integrated renewable energy projects with BESS, and onshore wind.
Specifically, the winning projects comprise the following:
- 4.2 GW ground-mounted solar projects mainly in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
- 2.3 GW floating solar capacity, including large-scale projects in Laguna, Pampanga, and Negros
- 2.5 GW onshore wind projects with significant developments planned in Quezon, Sorsogon, and Visayas provinces
- 1.2 GW integrated RE with energy storage systems, and
- 24.82 MW rooftop solar that will promote decentralized and urban clean energy solutions.
