Oman is set to open the third round of its green hydrogen tender in early 2025, according to a recent announcement by state-owned company Hydrogen Oman (Hydrom). The announcement was made during the GH2 Investor Day, held under the patronage of Oman’s energy minister, Salim Al Aufi.

The event, which gathered global energy leaders and investors, focused on discussing strategic investment opportunities in green hydrogen. Key topics included enhancing local content and manufacturing industries, improving bidding processes, and strengthening infrastructure. These efforts aim to reinforce Oman’s position as a key global producer and exporter of green hydrogen.

To date, Oman has awarded eight green hydrogen projects, which are expected to produce approximately 1.38 million tonnes of hydrogen annually by 2030. These projects will require a total renewable energy capacity of 34.8 GW, with an estimated combined investment of USD 49 billion (EUR 46.68 billion). Five of the projects are located in Duqm, central Oman, while the remaining three are planned for the Dhofar region in the south.
