RWE wins in Polish auction: Germany’s RWE is one of the winners of the recent Polish auction for renewable energy, securing state support for 31 of its projects representing a combined 102 MW DC/84 MW AC PV capacity. The capacity market (CM) auction was concluded by Poland’s energy regulator Urząd Regulacji Energetyki (URE) in December 2024 (see Results Out For Poland Capacity Market Auction For 2029). RWE says it has permits for most of these projects and it plans to start construction in early 2025. The company operates 91 MW AC PV capacity in the country at present and has more than 100 MW AC under construction.

258 MW AC changes hands in Romania: Vienna, Austria-based developer Renalfa IPP has acquired a 258 MW AC solar power project located in Romania’s Teleorman. The acquisition, concluded at the end of 2024, aligns with the company’s expansion plans in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The Teleorman project is scheduled for commissioning in 2027. Renalfa says it aims to integrate 1,000 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) assets as part of its future development.

Melz Municipality approves 111 MW project in Germany: Israel-based N2OFF Inc. and its joint venture (JV) partner Solterra Renewable Energy have secured Melz Municipal Committee’s approvalfor their 111 MW project in Germany. The committee has approved the submission of the statutory plan for the facility. The 2 partners plan to achieve a ready-to-build (RTB) status for the project by 2025-end. Encavis’ delisting update: German renewable energy company Encavis says its management and supervisory boards recommend the acceptance of the Public Delisting Acquisition Offer by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). This, they say, is based on their respective independent review and detailed assessment of the offer document submitted by KKR in December 2024. If the deal goes through, Encavis will be delisted from both the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the Hamburg Stock Exchange. KKR entered an investment agreement with Encavis in early 2024 to acquire the German company for €2.8 billion, offering a cash consideration of €17.50/share via its investment vehicle Elbe BidCo (see Europe Solar PV News Snippets). The acceptance period for the offer ends on January 31, 2025.
