LONGi achieves EcoVadis Gold rating
Leading solar PV manufacturer LONGi has received the Group-level Gold Medal in the 2025 EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Assessment, ranking in the top 5% among 150,000 global companies. LONGi says this recognition highlights its excellence in environmental management, labor and human rights, business ethics, and sustainable procurement practices. It said further that EcoVadis analysts praised the company’s advanced environmental management system, fair business practices, and sustainable procurement strategies, reflecting its unwavering commitment to CSR and sustainability leadership.

Earlier this week, LONGi announced that NEA had approved 2 solar standards led by the company, set to be implemented in June 2025 (see China Solar PV News Snippets).

Trinasolar wins China’s top patent award
Vertically integrated solar manufacturer Trinasolar has been awarded the Silver Prize of the China Patent Award for its patented innovation, "A Method for Estimating Direct Irradiance Ratio Using Dual Pyranometers." The company says this technology optimizes intelligent modeling algorithms for bifacial solar module tracking systems, addressing issues of misjudging weather conditions with high reliability, low cost, and easy maintenance. The China Patent Gold and Silver Awards represent the highest honors in the field, and Trinasolar says this is the best-ever result achieved by a solar module manufacturer, making it the only PV company to receive this distinction in 2024.

Recently, Trinasolar announced achieving 25.44% efficiency with its n-type fully passivated HJT modules (see Trinasolar Sets 'World Record' For Heterojunction Solar Module).

Wetown Electric raises funds for solar and energy storage projects
Chinese solar manufacturer Wetown Electric has raised RMB 578.1 million ($81.33 million) by issuing 30 million RMB A-shares to 16 investors. It plans to use the funds for 2 key projects: a 5 GWh annual capacity energy storage system (ESS) facility and a 25,000-ton solar ribbon smart production facility. The company also plans to use part of the proceeds to support the company’s working capital.

5 Companies win 3.51 GW solar module procurement bids
Chinese energy developer Inner Mongolia Energy Group has announced the results of its 3.51 GW centralized solar module procurement project. The procurement is for 3 utility-scale solar PV plants, with 2.17 GW requiring 620 W+ n-type bifacial dual-glass modules and 1.34 GW requiring 620 W+ bifacial dual-glass modules. The winning bidders for the 5 tender packages are Yingli, DAS Solar, LONGi, Risen Energy, and Huansheng Solar (a subsidiary of TCL TZE), with bid prices of RMB 0.661/W ($0.0902/W), 0.692/W ($0.0944/W), 0.74/W ($0.1009/W), 0.692/W ($0.0944/W), and 0.692/W ($0.0944/W) respectively, inclusive of RMB 0.02/W ($0.0027/W) transportation fees.

China issues low-carbon evaluation standards for solar module exports
China's Ministry of Commerce has released a draft of the standard titled "Low-Carbon Evaluation Requirements for Solar Module Export Products" for public consultation. Applicable to the low-carbon evaluation of solar module exports, it outlines principles and methods for evaluating the carbon footprint of solar modules, covering functional units, system boundaries, data quality, and carbon footprint calculation. According to the standard, if passed and implemented, modules emitting ≤415 kg CO2e/kWp from cradle to gate will qualify as low-carbon export products.
